The course has been a big success with 7 residents signed up to complete the course. The residents have learnt to cook everything from homemade pizzas to hearty curry’s, even a homemade chocolate mousse to cube those sweet cravings.

Local resident Ginnette says: “I absolutely loved every part of the course. I highly recommend Barbara Freeman from Fresh Beginnings! From learning how to handle the knives and ways to chop different foods, to learning how to cook different foods. I’ve loved all the recipes especially the spaghetti Bolognese which has become a firm favourite in our house. I also loved the social aspect of the cooking course, we had a lovely group which was great to get together every week. Friendships have definitely been formed.”

Another resident Laura said: “Got so many new ideas for meals and puddings for me and the kids. Especially the lemon and herb goujons and the soup. I’ve made most of the stuff at home with the kids since we done the course and we all love the food. I want to say a massive thank you to big local and Barbara too for the course.”

Every resident who completed the course received Barbara’s cook book, a Fresh Beginnings and a slow cookers donated from Changing Lives Together. After the success of the cookery course, we’re hoping to deliver more courses in the future. Please view our Facebook page for future updates: facebook.com/WindmillHillBigLocal
