Could you survive alone in the Wildnerness?

Day One of the Big Local ‘Big 2 Weeks’ welcomes bushcraft guru Tim from Wilder Things to Windmill Hill. Wilder Things is about inspiring people to love their environment through learning bushcraft and survival skills! On Day 1 of the bushtucker trial, learn how to survive in the wilderness with exciting informative bushcraft skills that may one day save your life, or somebody else’s.

Day 1 – SAT 28th July

10am-11am Litter pick for Sculpture and Andy Goldsworthy Art

11.15am-12.30pm Orienteering around Windmill Hill

12.30pm-1pm Lunch Break

1pm-2.15pm Den building

2.30pm-3.30pm Bow and arrow making, target practise

The BIG 2 WEEKS of events are organised by the Big Local. The Windmill Hill Big Local are a locally based partnership led by residents from the estate. The aim of the group is to make a lasting positive difference to the community, by bringing together all the local talent, ambitions, skills and energy from individuals, groups and organisations who want to make Windmill Hill an even better place to live.

There is something for everyone over the two week period, with at least one activity per day hosted within Windmill Hill.

Day 2 – TUE 30th July

10am-11am Litter pick for Sculpture and clay Faces

11.15am-12.30pm Willow leaf art mobiles – to be hung in trees

12.30pm-1pm Lunch Break

1pm-2.15pm All children get to have a go at lighting fire with flint and steel. Move onto lighting Kelly kettles and making brew

2.30pm-3.30pm Making Walking staffs – all the children shown how to build walking staffs.
