Children in and around the Windmill Hill housing estate are fortunate to have two great primary schools in the area. Both schools have had ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted reports in recognition of their hard work and devotion towards their pupils, Windmill Hill Primary School was rated ‘Outstanding’ in it’s last two inspections in 2006 and 2013, and St.Berteline’s Primary School in 2006.
Windmill Hill Primary School
Located in the heart of the estate, Windmill Hill Primary School is a real gem for the community it serves. The school has received the highest possible praise Ofsted could give a school by awarding it the status of “Outstanding” during its last two consecutive inspections in 2006 and again in 2013.
Pupils fortunate enough to attend Windmill Hill Primary School also benefit from the excellent Forest School initiative, an extended woodland area within the northern perimeter of the school that is utilised to provide an enriched education.
St Berteline’s C of E Primary School
Located in the southern part of the Windmill Hill estate, St.Berteline’s Church of England Primary School is another great school. The school received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report back in 2006 and has continued to have a high standard. Known locally as simply, St Bert’s, the school is slightly larger than average and has a good array of sporting activities available for its pupils.
The school prides itself on its strong Christian ethos, children are encouraged to be respectful and polite to others, as well as being encouraged to be honest and trustworthy.
